Got new skates but not sure how to use them? Join the Gainesville Roller Rebels’ FREE New Skater Classes and learn everything you need to know about skating!
Skating has become the new pandemic past time, and the Gainesville Roller Rebels want to help YOU learn how to skate safely and confidently, and maybe even learn about roller derby along the way!
Who Can Join?
Whether you want help skating backwards or are still just figuring out how to stop, this class is for skaters of any experience level who are interested in improving their skills. Experienced GRR skaters and referees teach our small group classes in a socially distanced/ no contact format.
These classes are open to people of all genders. However, you must be at least 18 years old in order to participate.
How to Join
We hold our free New Skater Classes in Gainesville, Florida every other Sunday from 10am to 12pm.
In order to participate, you must bring:
- skates (preferably quads)
- helmet
- knee pads
- elbow pads
- heat molded mouth guard
- face mask
- water
Our practices are outdoors, so we also recommend bringing sunscreen and anything else you may need to beat the heat!
The easiest way to sign up for our new skater classes is to join the Gainesville Roller Rebels New Skaters and Refs group on Facebook. This group is a resource for learning about roller skating and roller derby, with helpful skating tips and gear info!
